JOIN THE ATHENS AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE AS WE PRESENT
with OU Men's Basketball Coach Jeff Boals
The Chamber's June Business After Hours event will focus on the ways that our local businesses can benefit from NIL – a term that is used to describe a college athlete receiving financial compensation in exchange for the use of their Name, Image, and Likeness in marketing and promotional endeavors.
In this exclusive Chamber member event held in the Hardwood House, located inside the Ohio University Convocation Center, representatives from Ohio University Athletics and Jeff Boals, coach of the OU Men's Basketball team, will be on-hand to discuss the ins and outs of NIL business opportunities, which can help increase your marketing reach and promotional engagement.
Many thanks to our sponsors of this quarter's Business After Hours: Keystone's Mac Shack will be catering the event and Jackie O's will be providing drinks. Additionally, CEC Turf and Tractor (formerly Allpower) is sponsoring the door prize for the event :
The first 20 people to register will receive* two (2) undated tickets to any home Copperheads game this season
(*Please note, registrants must attend the event to get the tickets)
Registration will open up on Monday, May 15th!
This is an open-house style event – feel free to come when you can for as long as you can.
However, in order to help everyone better plan their after hours attendance and so that we can fit everything in, we will do our best to stick closely to the following agenda.
June 6th BAH Schedule
5:00 – 5:30pm – Registration and networking
5:30 – 6:15pm – NIL Discussion
6:15pm – 7:00pm – Networking
Coach Jeff Boals Ryan O'Connor
Ryan O’Connor, Ohio University’s Associate Athletics Director for External Engagement, will kick off the discussion by providing a helpful overview of NIL. This overview will be followed by a deeper explanation of group licensing and how to use the Ohio NIL Exchange, which is the home for all Ohio NIL information, education, opportunities, and reporting (read an article on the Ohio NIL Exchange here). These explanations will be followed by a real-life example of how a local Athens business has benefited from marketing using NIL. And to round out the discussion, Jeff Boals, coach of the Ohio University’s Men’s Basketball team, will provide a coach’s perspective on NIL.
